What is FIND-PD?

FIND-PD is a strengths-based training that offers self-paced, multi-level support for educators and caregivers who want to enhance their positive interactions with children.

Each module takes no more than 20-30 minutes to complete!

FIND-PD is designed to build on caregivers’ existing capabilities and offers practical strategies to enhance responsive interactions, build child skills, and reduce challenging child behaviors.

FIND-PD includes brief modules that can easily be incorporated into an educator’s busy schedule, as well as reflection questions, prompts for putting skills into practice, and checks for understanding to support educators in effectively applying strategies to their daily routines.

Each module includes access to extra resources relevant to the topics covered.

Exemplar Video Clips

FIND-PD utilizes a library of exemplar video clips to illustrate key concepts. These clips are captured from naturally occurring educator-child interactions and are presented in a structured and intentional way.

Using the FIND microsocial editing approach, clips hone in on developmentally supportive interactions and are further broken down to highlight salient aspects of the interactions.

The content of FIND-PD draws on evidence-based programs designed to promote positive caregiver-child interactions and child outcomes, including the FIND program. To learn more about FIND research and evidence of impact on caregiver and child outcomes visit our research and publications pages.

The FIND-PD series is in the early stages of development. The FIND team is currently seeking input from early childhood educators and caregivers to inform the improvement of the series. Levels 3 and beyond will be developed according to the interest of educators, caregivers, and leaders responsible for professional development training in their organization.

 

FIND is based in the Stanford Center on Early Childhood. The SCEC conducts research and creates tools to support children, families, caregivers, and practitioners. The SCEC’s work spans research, policy, and practice essential to advancing the world’s capacity to nurture its youngest learners and help them reach their full potential. The SCEC is an initiative of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning.
